Guns N' Roses To Tour With Van Halen?
Axl Rose intends to take the current lineup of Guns N’ Roses out on a worldwide stadium tour this summer, industry insiders told RollingStone.com.
“Axl has been basically quiet, keeping out of the limelight for almost 15 years,” said Guns manager Irving Azoff in the news item. “People think they know him, but they really only know what has been said about him by questionable people. He is a good guy and often misunderstood—he is a professional who has worked very hard to build and maintain a high creative standard for Guns N’ Roses, which I support. We have some exciting things in the works this year for GNR, I’m looking forward to it.”
Right on the heels of this news come unconfirmed reports about a co-headlining tour with GNR and fellow L.A. hard-rock icons Van Halen. If this pairing comes to pass, we’re betting it’ll move some serious ducats.

Jump to Paradise City !!
Yeay . . . :)
3/6/2009 | 4:12:15 PM by fumbleboot
The first song on the new U2 album is ok, but only because they've recycled the bassline from "The Fly" - very environmentally sound. Track 2 is ok, track 5 ok....last 3 ok, but some real shite in between.
Van Whonow? (I'm from UK) The "Jump" guys? Hmmn, not paying actual money to see those esteemed gents...
3/6/2009 | 4:28:10 PM by Dutch Democracy
mmmmm... van Halen.... that's not a band when I was thinkin' about a tour wit another band...
....maybe Chli Peppers.... Faith No More (a reunion tour).... U2 !?!?!?!...... the RollinīGrandpaīs..... or a kinda new band.... that attracts the young people....
Thta way, stadiums will be packed.... en history can be written.....
G NīR & Queen maybe.... that would sell has hell.....

a good solid album and a good performance live is all that really matters. the promo and vids and contests is all just thrills. that stuff is what it is and it doesnt last.
music in a timley fashion and a tour to support it is all I ask
3/6/2009 | 5:26:13 PM by J
Pretty sure VH had highest grossing tour of the year last year. Good way to get new album in front of a shitload of folks who dig hard rock. Tickets are gonna be like a grand.
3/6/2009 | 5:31:54 PM by J
Sorry their last tour was the highest grossing of their career rather...played to over a million people...made like 93 million dollars...
3/6/2009 | 6:30:17 PM by Chuck
Cool... now if considering the economic crisis, they cut down the cost of tickets, that pairing could fill arenas. If so, I'm there.
Btw, I agree with you Fumbleboot, I also like the first song on the new U2 album, and 3 or 4 more. It dissapointed me a little bit, because I loved their last 2 albums. It's OK but it won't last more than one or two weeks on my CD player, then I guess it's back to Chinese Democracy for the rest of the year.

van halen is probably rock's other greatest fall out. such a great band during both david lee roth and hagar eras. and just when u think eddie is thinking straight again by gettin DLR back.. he disses michael anthony. same goes with axl except that the other members in Gnr were part of the problem too. If this tour does happen.. call it coheadlining or whatever u want... no way should or will Van halen open for guns n roses.
3/6/2009 | 10:29:28 PM by s
btw.... i do find truth in these rumors because if axl is planning a stadium tour he knows guns n roses wouldnt be able to sell out by themselves or with other mediocre bands on the bill. Gn'r barely sold out any of their arena shows back in 2006. It would take another huge act like van halen or a metallica for axl ever to play infront of a sold out stadium crowd. I am not taking any shots at axl or gnr's.. im just speakin the truth
3/7/2009 | 12:13:38 AM by gunner22
that'd be awesome!
3/7/2009 | 12:33:54 AM by dude man
Hopefully they just spelt 'Metallica' as 'Van Halen' haha.
3/7/2009 | 12:43:49 AM by aint it fun
is there really going to be an acceptable act to go on the road with gnr? This van halen thing is pretty cool, big crowds and promo for sure but to an older crowd. hmmm im a little torn here, a newer band would have been ideal for getting cd to a younger crowd, but I cant think of one that would make me happy. like I said "aint it fun"
3/7/2009 | 12:53:59 AM by 13[SlasHer]
Uhm, Children of Bodom as an opening acts..kinda cool..
But whatever whose goin tour, the most important is GnR goin tour this year.
:p

Akers what are you saying "gay little Jump song"? A punk like you should do yourself a favour a go buy yourself Van Halen's seminal "1984" record and you'll hear one of the greatest American rock bands in history. The L.A band that started the entire West coast/ Sunset strip wave that ultimately would give way to GnR.
Who the fuck is Shinedown? And how the fuck would they help sellout stadiums? What's wrong with you dude?
Sounds to me like it would be a cool fucking show!!!
3/7/2009 | 4:20:14 AM by linklanka.com
Would be an interesting tour if it comes to fruition.
3/7/2009 | 4:36:19 AM by Jay
Now THAT is a great idea (and feaseable) for a touring partner that would be sure to pack any fucking house between here and NYC. And yes, VH would have to get stuck with the opening slot (call it co-headlining if you like, but.....), as they are only on the money grab as opposed to promoting a new album, IMO. But then again, at the end of the day, it's always a money grab for whoever anyway.
3/7/2009 | 4:37:34 AM by Jay
Or how about Rage Against The Machine? I've always wanted to see them, too.
3/7/2009 | 4:57:41 AM by have doubts
you have egomaniacs. you have a very fickle situation between Dave and the rest of the group. He can NO SHOW at anytime. You have AXL who has 2 albums that are great. But Van Halen has 6 that are great. Who's opening for who? I just do not see it coming to fruition, but , if it did, I would go. THAT'S ROCK N ROLL. What a treat for fans if it could be pulled off.
3/7/2009 | 6:05:21 AM by Leigh

I wouldn't anticipate GnR making any official announcements of touring plans for a while yet, they're still auditioning guitar players at this point. Wouldn't be too smart for them to commit to a tour when they still have an open spot to fill.
3/7/2009 | 2:09:48 PM by akers
dombomb i aint no punk i already admitted i knew nothing about vh, i never hear them played, and i have no urge to go hear them because the only song ive heard is jump and come on man you have to admit its a fucking shittty gay song, however i will check them out can you recomend any songs??? as for shinedown i meant getting a band like shinedown in would be good for reaching younger audiances not selling out stadiums in my head i was thinking three acts not one gnr vh and shinedown. shinedown are a pretty good rock band dude, there lead singer was tipped to sing robert plants parts if zepplin were to go on tour without him.
3/7/2009 | 3:14:52 PM by Dutch Democracy
Jump...... Kris Kros will make you Jump....
Oh no wrong song..... hahaha....
But serieously.... van Halen okay, but they will need another headliner that get's to Young people.....
I'm not saying van Halen isn't any good.... but the Van Halen fans already KNOW G N'R..... and that's the whole fuckin' problem.....
Young People need to know G N'R.... a new fanbase..... people who know G N'R and aren't big fans of them will never turn into fans, but Youngsters who don't know of them are a fanbase they have to reach.... and Van Halen is not the right band IMO......
But Okay, van Halen it is........... and next to van Halen...... definitly not the Killers.... hahaha.... the Chili Peppers still reach young people.... so that would be nice.....
Greetz from the Netherlands .... and have a nice day

Whoopdedoo... I wouldn't go see GnR if it was free at this point. Chinese Democracy was terrible and GnR isn't even GnR anymore. Axl is the only remaining member. Now, somehow get Slash back and we might have something worth a damn.
Van Halen on the other hand is still a great show. I saw them 2 years ago when they came to Omaha and it was a great show. Even though Michael Anthony isn't there, Wolfgang does a pretty damn good job and he is only going to get better. As far as the guy saying Shinedown should open? Rofl, I can think of PLENTY of better current rock bands. Though I think any of their CDs is better than this Chinese Democracy shit
3/8/2009 | 12:18:41 AM by akers

Here we go again....AXL/SLASH have been seperated for 14 years-GET OVER IT
They are not getting back together. In case you did not know Slash has a band of his own named Velvet Revolver. I enjoy that bands music as well. Enjoy the music from both, and get on with things. Axl should be focusing on getting Buckethead back....his riffs are fucking awesome on Chinese Democracy open up your ears.

3/8/2009 | 4:41:03 AM by HOLLYWOOD_ROSE
fuck van halen
i saw in in 2008 and david lee roth rushed every song ice cream man lasted 1 min 20 secs!!!
Aerosmith is planning a tour this year
my vote goes for that
3/8/2009 | 5:37:08 AM by DomBomb
Axl would never open for another band. And VH or Aerosmith wouldn't open for GnR (at least not this line-up of GnR) so I find this rumour has little truth to it. I can see GnR going out with a lesser band so that the opening slot is filled and Axl is the headliner and his ego won't be too bruised.
3/8/2009 | 10:24:48 AM by Yardman
Fuck yeah!!!! why should Axl open for anyone. Fuck that!!! Take that where the heart is!!

Yesterdays..
No shit Axl and Slash have been apart for some time. I'm saying that Axl hasnt made anything worth a damn since that time. I opened my ears to this new cd and listened to it a couple times through and then I threw it in the trash. When Axl starts making good music again or gets the original group back together it won't be worth seeing. Not to mention I couldnt imagine the prices they are going to want for their concert.
And BTW... Theres no way a great band like VH would open for this second rate version of GnR

The Who...
Does anyone give a shit about your opinion? Probably no more than my opinion. Fact remains, GnR has not come out with a good album since Use your Illusion and Axl is worthless anymore.
As far as what Fred Durst said about CD.. Thats fucking great. No one in the world knows shit better than him.
To the guy who asked if I was seeing Conor Oberst on the slowdown... Isn't that the guy from Bright Eyes? If so then the answer would be no.

Why is that loser Fred Durst being discussed in this thread? Who the fuck cares what that fartknocker thinks about anything? Let's change subject already as Limp Bizkit suck moose cock. Although many on here may not be totally enamoured with Nu-GnR, I think we can all agree that they blow Limp Shit-kit out of the water a million times over. Fred Durst shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as Axl Rose.

The Who
Im far from utterly brainless. I love GnR, the old GnR, the GOOD GnR. Axl has not come out with anything even mildly decent since what 91-92?
Axl is too caught up in himself anymore and has forgotten how to make good rock music.
Whatever though, to each their own.
DomBomb... I agree with the majority of what you said. Limp Bizkit is terrible, period. I just this its hilarious that of all people who said something like that it was him.
3/9/2009 | 4:01:45 PM by akers
somebody suggested dursts band tour with gnr and then i was the one who informed them of what he thought of cd which is why he is being discussed, personely i wouldnt listen to dursts music but some people like it and i was merely contributing a fact to their suggestion
3/9/2009 | 6:17:26 PM by JASON MILLER
FUCK VANHALEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3/9/2009 | 10:44:39 PM by Jay
To clarify, I thought it was deep fried dick (species unimportant) that Limp Biz dined upon.
And after a little thought, VH/Guns tour just wouldn't work out; Diamond Dave would get mouthy onstage about something, and then it would just be fucking ON. Cool idea, though, and it might be fun to watch the two of them have a war resulting in Axl kicking that little troll's ass.
A couple have mentioned Aerosmith/Guns. It'd (of course) be tits, but even I, myself, don't see Aerosmith opening (and rightfully so), nor do I see Guns going onstage in a timely manner as to open a show. So again, not gonna happen.
Can't wait for the next unlikely to happen rumor......
3/10/2009 | 4:02:27 AM by Chris "You"
IMO the only way this type of tour would work is this: It would have to set up kind of like an Oz fest: Multiple acts on multiple stages... There would have to be another arena act to fill the stadium: But having multiple acts would allow GNR to hit the stage fairly late and people not wait around for hours. The whole 3 hour wait the use to happen after Metallica would not fly: I dont know I just do not see this working out. There are noise ordinance issues when playing outside. In-fact i am not sure how GNR pulled it off back in the day: I know the stadium by me has a ton of houses around it now, it did not 15 years ago but it does now... Some expensive houses on the water and some new water front condo's. I doubt those people would like to here a concert going on a midnight on a Wednesday night.
In all honesty I would like to see GNR take it down a notch: Play some theater dates in USA: Play every night no matter what: Let people get to know this band. I was watching video of the Warfield show in San Fran, looked like an unbelievable show. Play places like that.
3/10/2009 | 9:45:36 AM by DTJ
I actually like Limp..That is Dursts opinion regarding gnr..And personally I think hot dog and flavored water is a much better cd than chinese..IMO..Chill out..whether you like durst or not and it seems like pretty much everyone on here doesn't..The guy has directed two feature films and was a record exec and happened to sell like 30 million records in a 4 year window..I've got respect for that..I tend to like Borland a lot as a guitarist as well..
Come on..You meaning to tell me know of you bastards bought a cd from limp from 98-2001? haha

Well, I've got DEFINITE proof of this! Ron Thal and Eddie Van Halen just became friends at Facebook!
In swedish:
"Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal och Eddie van Halen har blivit vänner med hjälp av verktyget Personer du kanske känner. "
Translated into english:
"Ron 'Bumblefoot' Thal and Eddie van Halen just became friends using the tool (?) "persons you might know."
Coincidence? I don't think so!

Listen, you dumb fucks. Van Halen with David Lee Roth made more money on their last tour than they ever did - ever. They don't need Axl Fucking Rose and his current band of posers to help sell tickets. This is a stupid internet rumor ( probably perpetrated by that loser Axl) Perhaps if Axl was able to reunite the REAL G N R, we might have something. Until then, no one cares about Axl and his band of posers. However, the Axl band of posers might make a nice opening act for Van Halen this summer, but I'll stay in the parking lot to drink a few extra beers during their poser act.

Axl Rose is a legend. He became a legend with the old GN'R. He's got a great voice, but what good is a voice without the music behind it.
Chinese Democracy was alright, it wasnt anythin special. Apart from Better and Street of Dreams, theres nothing worth listenin to on the album.
It wasnt worth waitin 14 years, lol every the song 14 Years on use your illusion was better then most of the 'music' on Chinese.
However, Axl Rose is still (in my eyes (and ears)) the best singer with the greatest voice in the world today
3/19/2009 | 8:55:02 AM by A Raul
Also, Velvet Revolver are a band without a singer... funny how these things happen, eh?

Dutch Democracy; you are the reason the music scene doesn't just suck but does not exist. You din't know who Van Halen is and i can understand this unfortunately. I am aware who they are, very. And i can tell you and people like you who think the chilis are great that you are quite ignorant. Not stupid just like someone who has never traveled and thinks NYC is the greatest city in the world. I grew up there and once thought this too.. VH is like a UFO, you need to see it to believe it and understand youve been lied to about its existence. VH will be the headline act w. Guns opening. Correct.. When you see the bill maybe you will believe this UFO talk may be true. Watch and learn

Axl has too big of an ego to open for another band, and I can't imagine an amazing band like Van Halen, one of the greatest bands of hard rock (definately in my top 10), opening for GN'R, who fell apart. I miss their old line up.
calhounhusker, i definately agree with you
