Rumor: Guns N' Roses To Rock Vegas In 2009?
According to Gavin Allen of WalesOnline, The Alarm frontman Mike Peters is planning to stage a charity music festival in Las Vegas next summer with The Alarm playing alongside rock giants Guns N' Roses and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.
Peters, the co-founder of cancer charity Love Hope Strength (LHS), has just returned from Lima where he played the first ever gig at the Inca Temple of Machu Picchu as part of Peru Rocks.
Last year Peters led the charity to Mount Everest where he played the first ever gig at the base camp of the world’s highest mountain as part of Everest Rocks.
Peters’ exploits with Love Hope Strength are now becoming such a hit Stateside that famous names are flocking to join him.
We can exclusively reveal that Vegas Rocks is planned for the first fortnight of July 2009 when Peters will lead an expedition through the belly of the Grand Canyon.
When the expedition party returns to Vegas afterwards they will celebrate with a major rock concert in Las Vegas.
Representatives of LHS are currently negotiating with rock leviathans Guns N' Roses, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Stone Temple Pilots, Lemmy of Motorhead and The Damned to perform.
Wales On Sunday understands the ambitious plans for Vegas Rocks are the brainchild of LHS’s co-founder James Chippendale, whose day job insuring rock bands for major events has given him a wealth of big-name contacts in the business.
But the Guns N' Roses connection comes from Peters himself.
The Alarm’s latest album, Guerrilla Tactics, was produced by former GN'R guitarist Gilby Clarke, who has helped organise the negotiations and is using his connections with wildman rocker Axl Rose to broker the event.
Our insider revealed; “Love Hope Strength has become a very sexy charity and Vegas and all these bands want to be a part of it.”

I thought the Chili Peppers weren't doing anything? Last I heard Flea say was that they weren't going to be doing any shows for quite a while and that he was back in school for something or other.

Ima,
If there was a duet, it would be a GNR song. Scott tries to sing a couple songs from AFD anyway.
If GNR books the show in Vegas I will be there for sure!
