Scoop of the year: 4 GN'R albums coming soon?
We all knew that a long-awaited Guns N' Roses track, Shackler's Revenge, was going to debut with Rock Band 2. But what we didn't know was that four Guns N' Roses albums could be dropping as early as September - so says a "rep" from Harmonix Systems, makers of the Rock Band video game.
But is the story even true?
During the recent E3 Games Show, a man claiming to be a Harmonix rep was interviewed about the upcoming Rock Band 2. After talking about the improved instruments, which includes a $300 premium drum set, the rep - who assumed he was talking off the record - let it slip that four Guns N' Roses albums are planned to be released to coincide with the MTV Video Music Awards.
"We work with MTV to make Rock Band," the rep says. "From what I've heard, there's going to be four simultaneous albums to be released that coincide with the VMAs."
The rep raves about the new track Shackler's Revenge. But he expresses some disappointment in the change in the overall Guns N' Roses sound, about how he misses Slash, and how the new material sounds "industrial" and "polished."
That's convincing enough. But then, anybody with an ear for YouTube already knows that some new Guns material is more "industrial". And after nearly 17 years of waiting for new material, the songs should of course be "polished" to the max.
Harmonix slams "faker"
Over at the official Rock Band forums, there's a denial that any of this is true.
"That dude in that video was just some tool pretending to be one of us and the poster of the video is an irresponsible waste of space," posts a Harmonix insider.
"Do I actually care what some dude whom has no idea what is going on but is a fairly good liar says on Youtube? No. I just never want anyone to think that any HMX employee could ever be so monumetally stupid as this faker was."
Ok. Guns N' Roses stories certainly get more "monumetal" (appropriate typo, MusicRadar likes that). But it's not beyond belief that this story has some truth in it somewhere.
Hasn't Axl Rose had quite enough time to deliver four albums' worth of songs? Yes. And of course Harmonix will deny it's true. Especially if this "faker" has himself been told something off the record that he shouldn't?
Or is this video simply more GN'R hype? – it could feasibly be part of the music industry's biggest ever viral marketing campaign.

That is something we've heard before... It doesn't surprise me. Although I doubt that they will be coming out all at once. Mabey the next two or three years or so.

4 Albums would be unreal...so much material, I wouldn't know where to listen!
7/23/2008 | 1:29:18 PM by ERIC-BR
I miss Slash work... that's it!
The CD can sounds great and I don't deny it, but it doesn't sound Gn'R... it sounds like Axl's solo material in what I think it's awsome.
And I'd like to tell this to Slash too. Buddy, VR are great but miss Axl's touch...
PLEASE AXL, GIVE A FUCKIN' CHANCE TO SLASH AGAIN... YOU'RE BOTH AMAZING GUYS.
Sincerely,
Eric (ericribeiro2003@yahoo.com.br)

baggio i sugest vol I song 1:) i agree, i had problems wit UYI at first (on my casete recorder back then:) so getting to know and love 4 albums would take... i don't know... 14 years:)?
7/23/2008 | 1:46:45 PM by dsp
I heard theres gonna be 14 new albums coming out simultaneously. One representing every year that hes been working on it. It is all going to be groundbreaking mindblowing stuff, that will sell into the billions. My source says they will be considered the 14 greatest albums of all time and that it was Axl's grand plan all along.
7/23/2008 | 2:11:06 PM by Rob22
Asking fans to buy four albums in one go and expect them to give each one the attention it deserves is unrealistic.
7/23/2008 | 2:13:27 PM by 45
He's right, the new material sounds industrial, not so good that.
Also doesnt remindes the real GNR,the sound just isnt GNR.Its very good, sounds modern but no this is not GNR Axl.

Modern music is not always good music.

quit fucking complaining about the new direction of the music....FUCK PEOPLE...it sounds like a fucking broken record in here..
7/23/2008 | 3:03:26 PM by ja5on
Use Your Illusion = 2 Albums
Why not outdo that by releasing 4 Albums for Chinese Democracy.....there were always rumours that Appetite was rerecorded with the new guys and we know there is enough material out there for another two-three albums....MTV and GNR seams a likely partnership too....has been in the past and MTV needs some hype/cred these days
7/23/2008 | 3:05:00 PM by Pablo
hey fake pat,
I understand were you're coming from, but you've got to understand that the sound of the new GNR completely different from the sound of the band known as GNR.
Anyways, I agree with you, instead of bitchin' like a broken record, just don't listen to it. They're not going to change a bit of their new sound just because the fans don't like it, if so than this is not really Guns N' Roses, maybe Bon Jovi!! LOL!!!
Here in Brazil we have a saying which goes like this: If you don't have anyhting good to say, don't say anything!
I'm not the happier fan in the world with NEW GNR, but it is as it is, and ther's nothing much we can do about it.
So take it or leave it. Sad, but true!
7/23/2008 | 3:05:47 PM by Vitor
One thing is sure, gnr has to make something difrent compared to other band's... Maybe that's realising 4 album's. I'm prety sure that axl have songs to make 4 albuns or more don' doubt that... And you FANS of gnr are talking about the quallaty of the songs? There is no doubt they will be fucking great! Axl singing, What can we ask more :)

Very good portugueses fake pat,
People in Karmonix already stated that the video is fake and that the guy doesn't work for them.
But also said stated that all the information may or may no be truth.
So until it is released I sugest we hold our breaths and keep the fireworks!

@Pablo
"there were always rumours that Appetite was rerecorded with the new guys"
This was no rumour. Axl said it himself in a 1999 Interview. And it was only to get into the old feeling and to learn the songs for stage purposes. The rerecorded tracks were not meant for release then, merely for quality control, and I very much doubt they are now.
7/23/2008 | 4:31:01 PM by Pablo
Hey JF,
I wasn't talking about the re-recorded version of AFD, we already know it exists, remembre, they used the new version of "Sweet Child O' Mine" on the soundtrack for "Big Daddy".
I was talking about the guy in the video, that supposedly works for harmonix and was like giving away a lot of information saying that GNR is in talks for this years VMAs, and that Chinese Democracy will be a 4 album set.
No doubt that they will never release the re-recorded version of AFD, this would be blasphemy (LOL), as I higly doubt it that there will be any cover versions of songs in CHIDEM. That would be a waste of our time.
Here's the article in which Harmonix's people say the guy in the video is a fraud:

Good Point Jason,
But remeber all the flack they took for it. Most people agreeded there was too much filler on the UYI's and they should have been released as 1 CD from the start.
Personally, I Love the USY's more than Appetite, so much character. Hope they release 10 in one go :D.
CHINESE DEMOCRACY - Volumes I - IV OUT NOW
Volumes I-IV can be bought as individual CD's or as exclusive delux editions. Each special delux edition featurnes over 3 months wortof B-Sides, Demo's rought cut's, mixes, guest stars, re-recordings, various line up mixes and various producer edits.
If you thought the Lord of The Rings Special editions you'll love Chinese Democracy
Scientists have proven that listening to all special editions of the album could take 1.3 years if listened to one straight without a break.
7/23/2008 | 5:13:10 PM by JF
I see. Sorry, I was misled by you stating:
"Why not outdo that by releasing 4 Albums for Chinese Democracy.....there were always rumours that Appetite was rerecorded with the new guys and we know there is enough material out there for another two-three albums..."
Really, I don't care whether it's 1,2,3 or 4 albums. I just wait and see. But I do think 4 would not only be appropriate after all that time, it would be a very clever marketing strategy, to kick off viral information like that. The guy from newgnr.com announced in the forum, that he would attend the convention and grill some Harmonix people about CD. Seems like he was successful.
If indeed this vid is fake, why would there be somebody in the Harmonix promotion area claiming he was a staff member and behaving the way he did? I can't quite believe that the newgnr.com-guy had a pal positioned there to do a show with. He was kind of reporting life from the venue all the time:
http://www.newgnr.com/forum/index.php/topic,34408.msg855008.html#msg855008
Either the reporting guy is fake himself or the vid is likely to be real. My guess ...
7/23/2008 | 5:15:41 PM by Bear
I would be very happy indeed with paying $50 at Best Buy for 4 albums of NewGNR, and essentially just OD on these songs for the next 5 years...
As far as the re-recorded AFD coming out, you never know! At first you had all these has-been bands rerecording their songs for greatest hits albums because the old record company owns the masters (BulletBoys, Warrant, even Social Distortion). However, NOW you get guys like Ozzy who rerecorded the bass and drums for his albums, and apparently a new KISS greatest hits coming out with newly redone recordings minus Ace and Peter.
I can see Ozzy and Gene doing that to save money, but not Axl. The shitstorm would kill any positive anticipation for ChiDem
7/23/2008 | 5:20:45 PM by The Child
I do not read official statement about IV vol. of Chinese Democracy. So if you can just stop writing posts about nothing.
7/23/2008 | 6:03:07 PM by JF
I don't think, the filming guy himself is fake. He joined the newgnr.com forum last november, it seems. Then, why would he stage such a show, if he is a real GNR fan? Screaming stupidity? And the one he's interviewed - damn good actor, if he's not really a Harmonix staff member.
Anyway, we won't find out until September the earliest if ever, will we? So, I'll keep on keeping my expectations low ...

4 albums?c'mon this is not fuckign Star Wars!!
7/23/2008 | 6:34:46 PM by Pablo
People,
First things first, lets hope "Schackler's Revenge" is a "new" song and not one of the 2 recent leaks with no name we've just heard or the "Checkmate" song there's on youtube (20s clip).
Then, after that, we can worry about VMAs, 1 CD, 4 CDs, Box-set with bonus CDs, or even the release of the album.
What we have already is better than everything for the past 10 years (2 tours, 9 leaks) and there are good news ahead with the release of Rock Band 2.
Still think the harmonix guy is fake and the camera was fooled.
7/23/2008 | 7:16:10 PM by Mike
Hang on, just trying to cast my mind back to one of Sebastian's many interviews about CD. I might be wrong but didn't Sebastian one time asked Axl when 'The General' was going to be released, and that he answered in 2010? If I'm right then that means that we're not going to get all of the four albums at the same time?
7/23/2008 | 7:17:03 PM by AxlzRoxchic
well who knows....this new news with Shacklers Revenge has definately gotten a lot of Hype and publicity....so i wouldnt be surprised if Chin. Dem. WAS released in September....sounds like a good move if you ask me...
7/23/2008 | 7:35:32 PM by Mike
now would be a good move! lol. but then if Axl wants a bigger impact then we need to get even more hyped up than at the moment. All we need now is to get an official statement from the man himself.
7/23/2008 | 8:13:34 PM by AxlzRoxchic
some people need to understand that the sound of the new GNR IS INDEED completely different ... of course it is.....imagine if every album sounded the same....how BORING would that be.... Axl obviously wanted and intended for it to be different.... like some have said, this new material; you either LOVE it or HATE it.......as for me, i absolutely LOOOVVVEEEE ITTT!!!!!!!!
7/23/2008 | 8:49:25 PM by Priest
I call all this bullshits! We're waiting 14 years for 1 album and now we're talking about 4? Cmon...
AxlzRoxchic you have right about the sound but man this is very very diferrent sound and very away from the classic GNR sound, nothing of the leaks remindes GNR.
7/23/2008 | 9:01:07 PM by AxlzRoxchic
look at Metallica...how different is their new stuff from their old...VERY EXTREMELY different....but it doesnt make it crappy..... new GNR IS different from classic GNR, but DAMMMNN ITS STILL GOOD....IMO, at least.....
one album (dout it)...four albums.....fourteen albums...i dont care, i just cant wait to get my hands on the real stuff....cant wait....
7/23/2008 | 9:30:52 PM by Pablo
Hey AxlzRoxchic, I'm sorry but you can compare Metallica with them! They may gone softer, but they never changed style, they never changed the identity of their music.
What a lot of people is saying is that the new direction of the band is way different. It is not Hard Rock, is something else, I don't even know how to classify it.
We're not discussing the quality of the material, but see Ozzy, Metallica, Van Halen, Rolling Stones, U2, Aerosmith, Led Zeppellin, for example, we instantly know it is them, in the first chord of a song.
It think, AxlzRoxchic, that a little bit of change is cool, but this is way to far.
Forget the old Guns N' Roses, this is another band with a different style, different musicians and different fans.
I still think that Axl is a genious, but not Guns N' Roses itself. Which died 14 years ago. Not because of Slash or Duff got out the band, but because they didn't release anything until now!
That's my point of view!
7/23/2008 | 10:41:53 PM by ors
Pablo,
You were talking about the re-recorded AFD and stated that Sweet child o' mine was featured in the OST of Big Daddy. That's really not completely true. When you watch the movie there's a girl singing it.
7/23/2008 | 10:45:33 PM by Chris
the video may very well be "real" but i seriously doubt that guy works for the makers of Rock Band... Also do not get your hopes up for anything to be released in Sept (as stated in the video) except maybe a single, then followed by the album in Nov. No single in Sept. IMO ='s no Chin Dem in 2008
also i just cannot fathom that Fink would quit if the album was close to coming out. The guy has been dealing with this shit for 10 years, why quit a few months before it comes out? Personally i feel Fink wanted concrete info on when the album was going to be released and tour info, but was not given a def answer.
Another theory i have is Rock Band is being used to generate interest and buzz. If the public thinks the song sucks we will never see Chin Dem. I have not always felt this way, but the more i think about it, i think that is the case.
7/23/2008 | 10:47:47 PM by slane 92
Im with Axlzroxchic, the new material is different, but to me it still rocks, the you can get a good bounce goin to IRS, Rhiad, and Chi Dem.
You get a class track like There was a time which in my opinion has the perfect balance between rock and ballad, I love that one. its just perfect.
Catcher in the rhye, The Blues and This I love are fantastic also.
I really like If The World as well, and I wonder why so many people come down hard on that one.
GnR is what it is right now and thats just a fact, while it can be interesting to debate and compare classic guns to the latest incarnation, its pointless really, Axl and GnR have changed but the same can be said for the majority of us who follow this band.
7/23/2008 | 11:11:36 PM by Kent
Sheryl Crow covered SCOM during the movie but, when the credits roll its a re-recorded SCOM with New GNR.

I expected a different album than AFD and UIY, but ok this is faaar from what I expected. Songs are ok, Axl's voice still strong, but it's simply not gnr.
All the bands released or they wiil release very soon their new albums and Axl n the guys still nothing....
7/24/2008 | 12:09:21 AM by Idiot
I expected another appetite and illusions..I mean come on Its still Axl and a bunch of new guys but still i expect the music to sound exactly like appetite and illusions..And I'm pissed that it doesnt...And I won't ever get over it and I won't quite posting about it on this damn forum..

The whole thing seemed to be staged if you ask me. If there was even the smallest chance of having 4 albums released in september, don't you think we would have had some promotions for these albums already. I think it's safe to say, if Chinese Democracy drops this year it'll be in late november.

Very amusing, but also a bit pitiful to read all these comments sounding like "I want Axl to give me what I want! And I want it now! If he does not do what I want he is an asshole!"
Just go and get a life, guys. It's Axls idea of GNR that matters, not yours. He doesn't owe you anything. He contractually owes an album to Universal, that's all. What this album will sound like, is his decision, whether it will be deemed marketable and released, is Universal's. And that's about it.
I for myself have deep respect for Axl for not settling down with mediocrity, for always wanting to do something new and spectacular instead of repeating the old successful as it may have been. That takes a lot of courage. And it tells me a tale if you damn him for it.

Guns N' Roses at the Felt Forum
Axl to Grind by Greg Milner
(December 10th, 2002)
Judging from those Cowardly Lion braids, Axl Rose knows he's no longer king of the jungle.
At the Garden on Thursday, Guns 'N Roses sounded big and bold, but they played it safe: Their first dozen songs were all Appetite for Destruction standards, except for two from the Use Your Illusion albums and similarly ancient covers of Wings' "Live and Let Die" and Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door."
Rose thanked us for "selling out this motherfucking thing—it really helps a lot," a bad omen for the first North American G'NR tour in nine years. (As of now, at least eight dates have been canceled, including a Bay Area New Year's Eve show.)
Rose's kind words preceded Appetite's "Out ta Get Me," which made for a particularly revealing transition.
When G'NR recorded that song, Rose's crucifixion was still a fiction, but now the "they can't catch me" lyrics sound less like a boast and more like the nostalgic complaint of someone who can't get himself arrested anymore. Rose later launched a grinning diatribe against the Times' "Jonny Pareles": "If you're gonna lie, then you're a pussy." This served as a lead-in to "Patience," thus transforming a sensitive song about not having sex into a paranoid one about getting fucked.
If Rose is indeed knockin' on has-been's door, at least he's keeping everyone guessing. The three new songs mostly just mystified the audience, especially the video footage of MLK and Tiananmen Square during "Chinese Democracy."
My friend wondered if guitarist Buckethead wears a KFC bin on his head as comment on recent capitalist reforms in China. Sure, why not? And maybe Axl Rose handing out Krispy Kremes to the front row was the last gasp of a cultural revolution.

Happy Birthday Slash
Slash, born Saul Hudson on this date in 1965, celebrates a birthday today.
What can I say about Slash besides that he is a living legend, and the most distinctive guitar player of his generation.
His guitar playing on Appetite for Destruction is the ultimate fusion of Sleazy Blues and Punk Rock, and has never been replicated since, even by Slash himself.
Appetite is one of the best selling albums of all time, and Slash's guest spot on Daughtry's 2006 debut has kept that album in the top 10 for 2 years running.
Slash's guitar solo in the Guns N' Roses song "November Rain" is a cultural touchstone for members of Generation X. This guitar solo signalled the end of an era and heralded the beginning of the 1990's.
Currently, Slash is a member of Velvet Revolver along with fellow GN'R alums, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum.
2007-8 was a banner year for Slash. He published his first autobiography, released the second Velvet Revolver album, had his own signature Gibson Epiphone guitar released, and was honored by the Guitar Hero videogame - Legends of Rock.
Slash is currently working on his first real "solo" album which will feature numerous guest vocalists.
You can watch Slash do what Slash does best below on the 1987 classic, "Nightrain."

I am so sick of people saying Axl is nothing without Slash etc.....get over it people. I have news for you, had Axl left GNR and they replaced him, they wouldn't sound like they did on Appetite or the Illusions. It all starts with the voice! Axl rocks! Democracy starts soon!

7/24/2008 | 3:49:05 PM by Pablo
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
I really can't stand when those 14 years old say that this music is the best GNR have ever made, and that Axl's voice is stronger and those 14 years old that bash Slash, Duff, and think that Buckethead and Finck are GNR.
Fuck that!!!! You weren't even born when GNR made their last show, you weren't there, you didn't feel it. How can you compare it.
And by the way, NEW GNR doesn't own me anything as JF said above, but we fans, we buy CDs, we go to concerts, we buy memorabilia and the money goes also to the band, right?
So JF, for example, if I buy your product and make you rich don't you owe me at least respect?
But like Axl said in one song of UYI II "...but it's been 14 years of silence...".
At least respect with the fans, at least respect with the musical integrity, at least no giving a shit about it.
I'm an old school-fan and I don't agree with all that's happening.
And if that's the material we will have it on CHI DEM, like, T.W.AT, Silkworms, If The World, which is good for Nickelback, Goo Goo Dolls, or Bon Jovi, then there's no reason for me to buy it!
I might as well just download it. See, than they wouldn't certainly owe me anything!
Fuck that, I'm pissed!
7/24/2008 | 3:58:32 PM by dude man
Pablo, quit complaining and don't listen to the new stuff.
7/24/2008 | 3:58:42 PM by JF
I'm pretty sure you get the respect you demand from Axl as soon as you respect him.
Who are you to judge on his musical integrity? HE is the artist, he decides what musical integrity with regard to GNR is. It's not for the fans to tell the artist what to do and what not. It's all up to him. And if he decides to give in to the fans' demands, alright. If he doesn't - just as well. But it is fucking HIS decision. He is not a service provider, mind you.
If you are pissed because you don't like what you get before you even have it - suit yourself.
But I certainly don't find much respect in your words.

JF,
I'm sorry dude, but you're wrong. I don't think Axl has to listen to the fans, he has never been told what to do, and will never be.
But, if he intend to continue under the GNR brand and with other musicians, he should continue at least near the kind of music Guns N' Roses' fans hear when they buy a GNR record.
You know what, who cares... we fans are divided into NEW GNR fans and OLD GNR fans, there's nothing we can do about it. This is a never ending discussion.
It simple, if you don't like it you don't buy it, if that's the material I'll hear on it, I won't.
And dude man, quit reading what I write if that bothers you and go listen to the older stuff, to understand what I'm talking about.
Peace JF!

I am as old-school as anyone. Christ, I remember seeing the the old line-up at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto(the 1st show after the Montreal riots) back in 1992 with Metallica opening. They were great then, but the new stuff has been in my truck stereo right from the first minute I burnt it. I love it, and honestly think it is at par or better than UYIs. Don't get me wrong, those songs on UYIs were amazing and they were a perfect fit for the era (pre-grunge), but there is so much riding on this new stuff. If you haven't noticed, music today sucks! Go to MTV.com and take a look at all the artists they are pushing. All rap, pop rock and R and B. I truly believe that Axl and Co. have been waiting for the right time for this to happen. The new stuff has just enough sound to attract the less-attentive youths and just enough "old-school" to keep all of us happy. I really think it will be monumental and 4 discs would blow everyones loads, even the doubters/ haters.
7/24/2008 | 4:17:21 PM by Josh
Don't like it? Don't read it! But most of all quit your bullshit whining! Talk about being a fucking child!!

"...I really think it will be monumental and 4 discs would blow everyones loads..."
Hey Kent, lets hope that is what happens.
Not a hater, maybe a radical hardcore fan. LOL
But I get your point.
See ya!

For those who say Axl is nothing without slash, I say both are not as good without each other.
New-GNR is good, but everyone is right they do not sound like the old GNR and why should they? No one in the old band wanted to move forward with this kind of sound! That is why they left.
Axl and Slash fed off each other... Axl is always trying to make the next November Rain instead of just another good song. Slash just wants to play rock music... Together they made great music. IMO Axl pushed Slash to do more and Slash helped strip down Axl's grand ideas.
Now i do feel if Chin Dem is liked more by younger fans than older fans that is good for GNR... Radio play will be higher and concerts will sell more which will equal higher album sales.
7/24/2008 | 4:39:57 PM by thomas
just like AFD brought raw-hard rock in late 80's (in a time where it was really needed),chi dem will bring new-gen-hard rock today(in a time where timbaland and fuckin-timerlake are reigning)
all the wait happened for a reason.until the timing was right.
7/24/2008 | 4:48:08 PM by Axl
Axl nothing without slash... ha. that is ridiculous at best.
lets face it.. Axl would have been huge no matter what.
Slash would have been a maybe... probably not....
7/24/2008 | 4:53:40 PM by Coma
When the CD will be released then all that we talking about the songs, the new gnr,the sound etc etc will be forgotten...
Soon is the word,How Soon is the question...
Dont give up,the nightmare of waiting overs...
7/24/2008 | 5:30:23 PM by Chuck
Obviusly this guy is a fake...he's just saying that because Baz talked about 4 albums worth of material. Releasing them all together would be a very bad move, cause if it's difficult nowadays to sell one album, imagine four.
The best thing they could do would be to realese Chi-Dem with 10 unknown songs and 3 known (Chi-Dem, Better & Madagascar) , then immediatly anounce a release date for the second album with another 3 known songs (IRS, T.W.A.T & The Blues) to keep everyone interested and anxious.
7/24/2008 | 6:37:58 PM by ston
that makes a lot of sense and explain all the delays. we all know axl wanted to bury appetite with the illusions project, and the only way to top the illusions is to release 4 albums simultaneously. and with a fucking rockband.
this will generate tremendous attention since its an unprecedent release...

7/24/2008 | 9:40:02 PM by Double Talkin Jive
I don't believe fans are split between new and old gnr..I believe 99% of fans would rather have the old group together yet realize this isn't gonna happen and isn't currently a possibiliy..
This is what we have so we're going to support the new gnr because we have really no choice and we actually dig the new music and think it is really good..Personally i like the new music a lot..Yeah I'd rather have Slash, duff, and izzy back in a heartbeat like everyone else but most of us are far past the bitching and just want to enjoys axls new music..
Chris your completely right about axl and slash tho..Axl created the best out of slash's music and really pushed him..Those two guys we're meant for each other..duff and izzy would have to be involved as well..I wish axl would just acknowledge that he eventually needs to get back with these guys because no matter how good this record is I'd still rather have the foundation back together regardless of who the drummer is. Yea i just started bitching like i said I wouldn't but o well can't help it
7/24/2008 | 10:53:00 PM by Sleaze
Why can't anybody just be content with what we have? We got 5 albums from the original lineup, 4 of them still rip the fucking hell outta me to this very day (not a big fan of the SI). I honestly can't think of a bad song on any of those records. I even like My World for what it's worth.
We got this stuff and it's gold. Nobody can ever take my GnR away from me. It's mine forever.
So actually, it doesn't really matter what happens and who's gonna be in what lineup or reunion or whatever. Everything we get from now on is a bonus. Don't complain or bitch around. Personally, I'm very excited to see what uncle Axl's got up his sleeve. The other guys pretty much had their chance, VR or Snakepit never did anything for me. If CD sucks, then it will suck. No problem, take it for what it is. And if it rocks, well... it'll probably knock the fucking roof off.
I love GnR and I love Axl. And I guess I love you guys too, you crazy type-you-an-ass-about-GnR-everyday monkeys.

Well said Sleaze! I too am curious to see what Chin Dem will have in store for us, but until then i listen to what i have already...
Personally i just want the album to come out so they will tour again. Personally i would prefer a reunion, but would see new-gnr again.

New GNR sucks! Axl fucked it all,he destroyed the band and he took some emogay like fortus and pittman.
Chinese democracy sucks too, isnt gnr,its Axl and friends band, their new industrial sound sucks bad.
And we have a poser like bach who saying all the time how mind-blowing is CD,how amazing is Axl etc etc.
I call all that bullshits!
7/25/2008 | 12:59:50 AM by JerryBronsen
I really wish one of these albums would be the songs they were recording for the next record back in 96 or atleast get to hear that material but I wouldnt doubt it one bit if listed in the writing notes that you do see Duff and Slash on some songs or for some riffs we hear on this album.
Addicted To Noise Toronto correspondent Peter Howell (who is rock critic for the Toronto Star) reports: Guns N' Roses is back working together again, according to bassist Duff McKagan. The multi-million-selling Los Angeles hard rock act had been rumored to have broken up, a casualty of bandmember lifestyle problems and changing musical tastes. But the group members recently reconvened after a long time apart, and they're back in the studio, recording their first album of original material in five years. "We've been in for two weeks as a full band with Slash and Axl (Rose) and me, and we go from midnight to five in the morning," McKagan said from L.A. "With Guns, there's no problems with material. The problem has always been getting us in the same room. So now that we're in there, it's rockin'."
The record will be all up-tempo rock songs ("No ballads," McKagan said firmly) and it will be just 12 songs, with a release planned for next spring. A summer tour would likely follow.
The Gunners were among the biggest rock acts in the world in the early '90s, selling millions of copies of their double-album 1991 disc, Use Your Illusion, and filling stadiums worldwide. But lawsuits arising from singer Rose's penchant for confronting obnoxious audience members, and various drug and health problems for the others, kept the band off the road and out of the studio since 1993, the year the band released a collection of cover tunes titled The Spaghetti Incident?
McKagan said he very nearly killed himself through alcoholism...
Use Your Illusion was a big one for the band.
McKagan saidhe very nearly killedhimself through alcoholism, which he has helped keep in check by taking up martial arts training. "I had to,'' McKagan said of cleaning up his act. "My pancreas blew up. It was pretty black and white for me there when I was in the hospital: 'If you drink, you die.' But I didn't know how to stop. I really didn't."
Part of getting his life back in gear was joining new band Neurotic Outsiders with fellow Gunner Matt Sorum, Sex Pistols' guitarist Steve Jones and Duran Duran bassist John Taylor. The four Hollywood buddies originally started the group last September as a charity fund-raiser lark, but it's grown into a serious side project. which McKagan is juggling with his Guns 'N Roses duties. "On this tour we're doing, Matt and I fly back from Toronto and then we do four days with Guns (recording) and then we go back out, so Matt and I are playing every single night with one or the other (bands) in September," McKagan said.
Keyboard player Dizzy Reed is also back in the GN'R lineup, but there's been a big change up front: Rose is now playing rhythm guitar. "For the last couple of years, he started to go, 'Okay, I'm going to play guitar and actually learn what these notes are.' It's an innocent guitar, not unlike Izzy (Stradlin, ex-GN'R guitarist) was, but Axl's got a lot more musically than Izzy ever did.''
McKagan said he feels great from his time off and his work with Neurotic Outsiders, and there's a good feeling in GN'R, too - but also some problems. "There's a certain tension with this band and there always has been, and there's some issues that haven't quite been cleared," McKagan said. "Just little things. We've been together 10 years. We're not unlike brothers. So there's tensions, but that's how we thrive." -END

If that article is legit, I would love to hear some of the material they recorded in 96'. It would be unreal if Slash and co. appeared on Chinese Democracy...but somehow I can't see it.
Would be great though, hearing new material from the old members.

Multiple albums isn't news, Baz said it months ago, plus I remember quite a few rumors about multiple albums. Four is a new number, but the guy could also be referring to CD being one of four albums from different artists who appear on RB2. I know AC/DC have a new album coming out around that time, so maybe that's what he's talking about.

Metallica new album, motorhead new album,ac/dc new album, motley crue new album, alice cooper new album, etc etc. So many bands released or they're going to release new album.
Axl still let us waiting....
7/25/2008 | 4:52:10 PM by gnr_22
Hey Motorizer, New Alice Cooper!, when is this coming out?? He keeps coming to my hometown or near by but i keep missing him. Something always come up and i cant go.
7/25/2008 | 4:57:57 PM by -
Motorizer, sounds like you have a good deal of new music to listen to. Personally I wouldn't wait for Chi Dem. Go back almost two years ago on here, and even longer on other sites, and its the same conversations. Nothing has changed. The same speculations, the same threats from the fans, on and on and on.
7/25/2008 | 5:11:49 PM by Chuck
Alice Cooper new album is entitled Along Came a Spider and it's already out. It's the same old Alice. The Crue's album is good, very 80's, but as usual Vince's voice its the weakest link (they should have kept Corabi).
I'm also looking forward to Metallica's and AC/DC new ones.
If only Axl would release Chi-Dem...
sniff.
T.G.I.F.
Cheers!

Now please dont get me wrong here OK......
Having all the leaked material so far is frickin great, better than a kick in the balls by a skin head anyway, but its a bit like havin a wank, when all you really want is to have full on nookie with a real person haha.
So for me to have this album will be like having Cameron Diaz waking up along side of me, and asking what it is I want for breakfast, if you get what I mean. #wink wink#
So if havin one chi dem album would be like this, what would four albums do to me? (and my over active imagination) shit I would shrivel away to nothing! lol.
Take it easy people, enjoy the week end.
7/25/2008 | 6:58:30 PM by gnr_22

7/25/2008 | 11:45:32 PM by Reckless
Cd isnt worth the waiting...A good album but not gnr, this is not the GNR we knew...
14 years,13$ money, worth all that? What you think?

Who cares....let's all get high!!!
7/26/2008 | 1:12:20 AM by Big Pat
Why does anyone care how much an album costs? Anyone else get tired of always hearing
"this many years, this much money"? I mean really. Its not like anyone we know personally has invested into the album. AS for the time, well few have actually waited on pins and needles each and every day for this CD.
And not to split hairs, but in actuality its really been since around 2000 when we really started anticipating the release. So 7 to 8 years. Granted that's to long. Of course some of you that are bitching about the time were still in single digits age wise when the whispers of the new album were first heard. Except for fake pat. Who was jamming to AFD when he was 6. Cough cough.
Ive been in business longer than I sometimes like to remember, and I learned a long time ago, it doesnt matter what something costs, as long as you can make a profit.
The group behind the group are very good at doing just that. Making money. The sooner the management team can find new ways to create cash flow for the band, the less pressure is on everyone regarding the new album. And the sooner it will be released. Unfortunately its all about the money. Everyone wants theirs. And justifiably so. A great deal of money and time has went into making the CD's. You only get one shot to release them.
Anyway, everything I said above is pure speculation. Just my opinion.
Give it a rest people.
7/26/2008 | 1:19:12 AM by Jason
I agree with you Big Pat, the way the music industry is going it has to be the right time. I just wish Axl and Universal would give us an official statement. At least in September we will all get a new song. Patience people, trust me I have been waiting forever. I rememebr on Nov 21, 2006 I went to Best Buy and the cashier never heard of GNR (L0L). In the meantime the new Metallicca album is comming out in September. Hopefully by November we will all get to hear Chineese Democracy!
7/26/2008 | 2:13:17 AM by Breakdown
Whats the point of all that? I mean to waiting when the album is done from december, what the hell they're doing 7 months?7 months and still they cant find the way to release CD?Its so difficult?I cant understand, only Axl and GNR have this problem? Why all the other bands releasing fine their new albums and new GNR they cant? All the bands have no problem with the release of their albums but Axl have, why damn, why?
Its annoying all this situation.
Why nobody from the band, from the management, from universal they dont talk, why they dont give info to the fans, why they dont telling us whats the f@cking problem with the release of CD?
Things goes very very slow...

Bullshits!
7/26/2008 | 5:03:59 AM by Josh
What would you have us talk about then? Why do you even care? It's GN'R related discussions. That should be good enough, no? When devoted fans of a band have been waiting more than a decade for an album conversations are likely to be repeated, and so what? What's wrong with that? You know, most people use this site to pass some time. We're just talking. Who cares if people are talking about the cost of an album! It's a legit topic isn't it? It's never happened before in recorded music history has it? So let us talk about it. Be happy this forum is used to discuss such things and not another one.
7/26/2008 | 5:24:00 AM by Double Talkin Jive
Big Pat certainly the conversation gets old..But come on, I mean do you honestly expect people to quit bitching about it..I read an article yesterday written in 2002 talking about the numerous delays chinese had up to that point..
I know axl doesn't owe us anything but that's not good enough..Its not good enough that everysingle band and person can get things done on a timely manner..I think axl deserves to get asked "whens chinese democracy getting released" every day because this fuck has been sitting on it forever and broke up the best band in the world for "Oh my God"..Wow seriously..
Yes this topic has run its course, but I just don't think its reasonable to tell people to quit talking about it..Tomorrow their will be just another ass hole like me complaining.
Agree with me or dissagree and I'm sure many dissagree sense everyone on here is always telling peeps to quit whining and bitching but honestly thats extremely unrealistic..
7/26/2008 | 5:51:58 AM by dude man
Pablo, stop being a big baby. If you're just going to complain how GNR should at least sound a little like the older GNR, go LISTEN to AFD or UYI.
If ChiDem sounded like AFD or UYI it'd be fucking horrible, because it simply wouldn't live up to the previous albums. It'd turn out like Velvet Revolver, which, in my opinion, are/were pretty awful.
If you're not interested in their new music, why do you even bother coming to a website like this? It's obviously going to be mostly about what is happening with the band CURRENTLY.
And finally Pablo, stop being an elitist dick. It doesn't matter how long someone has listened to the band. Just because you've been listening to them longer doesn't mean you like them more than anyone else.
7/26/2008 | 6:44:03 AM by DomBomb
While there is a fair bit of whining and complaining on this forum (and I too am guilty of my share) what the fuck would you expect from GnR fans? Why wouldn't they bitch? The best band of the last 25 years was ripped apart at their peak. They haven't put out a record of original material in 16+ years. The new incarnation of the band sets out on a tour in 2002 only to have it end prematurely. They then set out again in 2005 (giving us fans a false sense of hope that a record release is imminent) and we get dick all! We've been waiting and waiting without so much as even a comment or any sort of press release from the band or its management. Sure there are gonna be some pissed off fans. WTF would you expect?
Under normal circumstances we'd be discussing the music,or talking about their current concert tour, their set-list when they played our cities, the videos, whatever. Yet all we can really do is speculate shit, guess how many records will be released, talk about some fake Harmonix employee and his bullshit scoop, post articles about ex-drummers getting booked and so on. I wish this wasn't the case, but it is what it is.
At least we have this site to vent, so thanks to the boys who keep it together!

Fake Pat, nobody asked for your snarky comments. What do you do on this forum? other than stir the pot and act like you know everything there is to know about GnR.You're the one who seems to say the same shit over and over. I'm tired of you cutting people down on this site. Grow up you punk.
7/26/2008 | 7:53:19 AM by JF
I must admit I cannot quite see, why there is so very few and mostly irrelevant press statements from the GNR camp. I mean, to provide a release date for March 6, 2007 and then not comment at all after it still didn't get released - that was pretty poor. But this is about the only thing I am ready to criticize.
@DomBomb They started touring in 2006 again, not 2005 afaik.
@ dude man In one of the other recent threads somebody wrote something like:
"If ChinDem sounded like AFD everybody would say Axl lost his creativity, right?"
And right he is, I think.

7/26/2008 | 10:38:02 AM by dude man
@JF - Exactly! That's what I mean! Though I honestly never saw that post.
@fake pat - Biggest burn I've ever seen on here, haha.
@Dom - To be fair (despite how badly I will be flamed by some people on here), GNR broke up way past their peak. Once Nirvana knocked Michael Jackson off the number one position on the Billboard 200, it was over for them. That's why he became the 'dictator' of the band, as Slash described - he wanted to return GNR to it's position as biggest band in the world, which he may or may not do, depending on whether Chinese Democracy ever gets released.
7/26/2008 | 11:03:06 AM by DTJ
Dude Man - Kurt cobain even said himself that while he hated gnr, what they stood for, and axl, for some reason they we're the biggest band on earth.Which he couldn't understand..I could easily pull the interview up but I'm too lazy..So you've got it there in Cobains own words, he knew their we're the biggest band at the time(1992).They weren't passed prime...
By the way a lot of the reason people started callin guns n roses "guns n posers" was because of axl's antics and his over the top music videos..So Axl wasn't the person who needed to be the dictator..Even with this sentiment this was still the biggest band of the time besides nirvana I'd say..Personally I don't think anyone has topped the music of guns and grunge and early 90's
7/26/2008 | 11:32:39 AM by JF
dude man, the posting is at the end of this one:
http://www.gnrdaily.com/news_detail.asp?id=1438#kontaktform
What with why GNR broke - there were various reasons. It started with Izzy leaving because the thing got too big for his taste. Axl was in deep personal trouble due to his therapy sessions, he said it more than once that he was late on stage so often because he simply couldn't go out earlier or it he would have delivered a "shitty show". He'd rather do it well or not at all. Izzy had always kind of managed as an intermediator between Axl and the rest of the band. As Axls troubles got worse and worse and with Izzy gone, the band structure was seriously damaged, not only musically, but on a personal level.
The item of upcoming Grunge etc. added considerable external pressure and posed a new challenge to GNR. Axl was willing to meet that challenge by allowing new musical styles to influence GNR music. But the band was not a functioning system anymore, the inner balance - which had been more than fragile from the very beginning - was gone and the band could not cope with the new task. They would have had to change, but they couldn't, they just fell apart.
My guess is, that Axl was aware of all this, conciously or not, and as he regarded GNR as his personal project anyway, he secured the band name rights for himself. And as he was the real driving creative power behind the project GNR, I think he was entitled to it. He was, what made GNR special. Not only with his singing and arrangement ideas, but also with his video projects. (Not without reason November Rain ranks on number 5 of all time best music videos.) And as he had his own understanding of what GNR was all about and felt attached to the project more than the others, he stuck with it and tries until today to give justice to it.
You can see what GNR would have been without Axl - look at Velvet Revolver and you know it.
Sorry for the sermon, folks. Had to get rid of that. :)

And JF - GnR did break up at their prime. Don't try getting all technical with the dates. Their last works of original material was UYI. The finished their tour in July 1993 and that was all the world ever saw of them (don't include Spaghetti Incident) So anyone who knows anything knows that the band was at its peak. Quit correcting everyone in your stupid posts. What the fuck are you a God damn school teacher?
7/26/2008 | 3:08:43 PM by JF
DomBomb, I didn't claim GNR were not in their prime when they broke up. They were in their prime but unable to stay there. I tried to describe above, what led to this situation - as far as I understand it after having compared the band members' statements about it.
What's wrong with correcting wrongs and giving an opinion? You are free to correct me in return and call me a goddam school teacher if you like. Just your opinion. But not a fact. ;)

yeah it's true thats why it's taking so long. You see Guns was gona do the "box set" with the illusion albums. Everyone knows that. The record company balked (wish they did it now I bet since its been forever since an offical release) Axl has about six albums worth of shit. So in realitey chinese democracy wasn't the most expensive record ever made. He wants to release the new version of AFD, Chinese democracy one and two, The fourth album is a covers album with songs from James Brown I feel Good, to the Doors light my fire.

I'll say that Maiden or a bunch of assholes (mostly auld Brucy, never a band who've shown a whole pile of love towards Ireland) but they are one of the greats when it comes to metal.
As for the laughing about Lemmy, what can anyone say about that? Your obviously a total dick who has as much appreciation for rock icons as you do for wiping your ass.

JF, thanks for the link before.
DomBomb, by 1993, Nirvana and co were 'the' music. The stuff GNR was playing was old news.
By 1997, which in my opinion is the very end of the 'classic' line-up (if the band had Duff, Matt and Axl, they probably could have convinced Slash to come back) nobody gave a shit about Guns N Roses. They were PAST THEIR PRIME. Still an amazing band, but the sort of music they played was no longer the dominant form like it was in the late 80s/early 90s.

When I listened to my classic rock station here in Buffalo (97 Rock) they had a list of the 100 greatest guitar heroes. And Slash reached 11. Mr. Finck, Buckethead, and Bumblefaggot didn't even place at all. Further proof that GNR is DEAD. And Axl's just mooching off the GNR name to sell records.
7/28/2008 | 1:07:28 AM by Me
That made absolutely no sense at all. If GNR was dead they wouldn't have a name to mooch off of now would they?
7/28/2008 | 1:30:31 AM by Rob
Only because Axl literally bought the name. Guns is Slash, Duff, Izzy, and Steven. They ALL made Guns what it was. NOT just Axl. Tell me. What would you be more excitied to hear? An Axl Rose solo record? Or a "Guns" album fifteen years in the making? Exactly. He's using the Guns name to help sell future records.
And to everyone who's all like "Bumblefoot and Buckethead are techinically better than Slash...blah...blah...blah..." shove it! It takes three highly trained professional guitarists to play solos of a guy who had only a handful of lessons and was fucked up on heroin all the time.
As I said before I'll give Chinese Democracy a chance upon release, but from what I'm hearing now, it's just mediorce industrial shit that's loud and obnoxious, with fast guitar solos with no meaning or groove to them. It's been, for the most part, just loud and obnoxious. 14 years to write what we've been hearing? THAT'S THE BEST YOU CAN DO?? And anyone who thinks new Guns beats old Guns, was never a real Guns fan at all. It's ridiculous. I don't care what anyone says.

SLASH
"We improvise the whole time we're playing. A lot of times we won't know that song we're gonna do and I'll suggest one and we'll debate it right there on stage. Sometimes I'll start improvising and they'll know not to mess around until I'm finished and I give them a nod. We do go off on our individual things but it somehow all stays together. We do the whole show like that. We screw up every so often but not that much."
DUFF
"When this band got together, everybody felt 'This is the right place.' You know how this goes. You're in a band and there's always a loose link in the end. Always. Every band I'd ever been in before, there'd always be one person, or two, that wasn't cutting it. This band, it was finally like 'Okay, this is it.' You could feel it at the first rehearsal. It just felt right."
AXL
"I sing in about five or six different voices-that are all part of me, it's not contrived. I'm like a second baritone or something. I used to take choir classes and stuff and I'd always- sit there and since I could read music, I'd try to sing other people's parts and see if I could get away with it. We had this teacher who was pitch perfect, or whatever you call it. He had ears' like a bat, man, like radar. So, in order to get away with singing someone else's part, you'd really have to get it down. Or else, he'd know exactly what corner of the room this person is who's not singing right. So, I guess, I really started working on it then by trying to mess with this guy's head. Like how come he's hearing a soprano in the bass section."
IZZY
"I hate to take showers! Guitarists don't like showers 'cause we like the grease to build up on our fingers, makes playing more fluid."

does anyone else believe this could be a publicity stunt by GNR managment?
i mean a video with nearly 10,000 veiws its hasnt been up for that long, it will be good publicity for an album that hasnt even been released yet.
and its a surprise that the video has been deleted yet or that we have not heard about the guy being sacked or anything like that.
we've heard nothing about it from the GNR camp which is unusual in these type of situatations.
7/28/2008 | 5:52:28 AM by DTJ
Rob your a breath of fresh air honestly..I've almost shit my pants on here a few times at some of the posts claiming that new gnr is better than old..Bumblefoot is exactly how you said, and unfortunantly I'm guessing axl is gonna dub his parts over buckethead..
Also dissapoints me to see people comparing slash's music to guns and how gnr's new material is so much better than velvet..How can you compare something 14 years in the making to something made in 1 year..You simply can't..Quit the comparison and quit talking about how slash and co need to move on..These guys have made countless records since gnr broke up and axl still hasn't released shit..so whose the one who hasn't moved on.
This album will be good and I can't wait to hear it, but I wish axl would come back to realityville..I'm bettin this album doesn't see 2008.
And their been a lot of talk of the originals leaving due to constant complaining..Come on get real, people are leaving because chinese democracy is a circle that never ends..At the end of the day you can only take so much and people just eventually move on and refuse to concern themselves with Axl's soap opera. I may not be entirely right but I know I'm not entirely wrong..
7/28/2008 | 7:29:16 AM by JF
These guys have made countless records since gnr broke up and axl still hasn't released shit..so whose the one who hasn't moved on.
It's not a matter of quantity but one of quality when you argue about whether somebody's moved on artistically or not. Yes, Slash still plays the guitar godlike and writes fantastic riffs. He's doing what he did 20 years ago. He is guitar genius enough to come up with great guitar songs albumwise. No doubt about that.
Axl paints perfect pictures of sounds in the studio as he once said himself. And he wants kind of a musical cocktail - based on hardrock, but not just hardrock. Taste is not really something you can reasonably argue about. If you don't like the new GNR stuff - no problem. Don't listen to it. Listen to the old stuff.
Most fans want the artist to give them what THEY want, they are not prepared to leave the decision up to him. And it's kind of understandable. They want to relive over and over again the good feelings they had when they got in touch with his or her art. They want to preserve these feelings and in order to do that they don't want the art to change.
However, the artist usually has something like artistic integrety. It does not mean "stick to what you did before", it means "express yourself the way you want to". That's where the artist's and his fans' interest usually clash.
Now, Axl's musical integrity seems to mean that he keeps open to all sorts of musical styles to be combined with hard rock and that he works on the songs until he really did the best he can. On the new album, he may have one or the other song where only a few hardrock guitars are left. There may be industrial sounding stuff on it. It quite definitely will be what he AND the other band members like and what they created together.
And when the album ist out, we fans will decide whether we like it or not. And we will still be fans of new GNR or not. Where is the problem, for God's sake?

Comments about the newGNR not being the 'real' sound seem kinda stupid to me. Do you really believe that if the original lineup had stayed together the sound would be the same?
Just think about the differences between AFD, UYI and that Spaghetti nonsense. Bands change, they evolve. AFD was reflective of what the band was going through when they were trying to make it big. UYI's had some good stuff but were too grandiose with too much 'filler'. The raw edge they had for AFD was gone.
Even if the original line-up had stayed together the sound would have changed over the years. Whose to say the original line-up would be any better than what Axl is doing these days?
To those AFD die-hards who think the newGNR is never gonna be as good, well you're right. Just get over it. Every band changes, many for the worse. I reckon the new stuff is sounding good, and they kicked ass last year when I saw them live. Robin is a worthy successor!
Just remember, GNR became a different beast when the money started rolling in. It will never be the same, regardless of a reunion (that will never happen). The point is, most people loved GNR for the raw, brutality, dirty guitar riffs, etc. of AFD. Nothing will bring that back cause none of these guys will ever have that hunger again...
Approach ChinDem, when it arrives, with a more open mind man! It'll be good, but it'll never be AFD2, nothing will!! Ever!

"Do you really believe that if the original lineup had stayed together the sound would be the same? "
Νο the sound maybe it wouldnt be tha same, but they would be sounded like GNR and thats for sure.
But what Axl doing these days is way far from what lot of fans we expected and far from the GNR sound we all loved.
The point isnt Axl to do an album with the same sound of AFD or UIY but the point is to do something that it will be GNR,his new material does not remind in nothing GNR.
"Whose to say the original line-up would be any better than what Axl is doing these days?"
Yeah would be way better than what Axl is doing now cause the original line up can create way better music than this industrial sound that this line up doing.
This is not GNR,so simple. Its for laughing when you hearing the name "New GNR", GNR was the old good GNR and now are dead, nowdays GNR they dont exist, maybe its hard for some ppl to believe it that but is the truth.
Like there is one Led Zeppelin, you would like
for example Plant to name his personal band "New Led Zeppelin"? Just dont make sence cause all the ppl know what LZ was.

What the Fuck do you expect from Axl? That's the fuckin' question!
Of course this isn't the original gnr! Axl has spent fifteen fuckin' years on this beast and to my ears it's brilliant. No, it doesn't sound like classic gnr, but why would it? I mean REALLY? Take it for what it is, (in my opinion) brilliant music. If you don't like it because it's different then stop moaning and stick to the albums you already have.
I WANT something different. I AM getting something different. If you feel differently it's really your loss.
Seriously, if you don't feel this is living up to some past angle then go somewhere else. I myself never expected this to sound anything like old gnr, but it's still amazing. If you have a different view then good on ya!
This isn't about old and new gnr, it's about the expectations we have of Axls new direction. I myself cannot wait for the next installment.
Bite me.
7/28/2008 | 9:56:13 PM by gnr4ever
For it to sound like guns n roses, Axl has to be singing, that's it!
I myself consider GnR Axl Rose, I love what the others did but hey they left us hangin!
I tried to jump with VR but to be honest, I don't love Slash's guitar licks that much.
What great solos has Slash done lately? Name one that really kicks ass on the past two albums? I know I can name a bunch that Finck, Bucket, and BBF have done. Name one that kicks ass like TWAT. Slash has been done back when he quit Guns.
If you add the old guys to the group it would look pathetic, the new GnR are young and full of life. Slash and Duff look like crazy bag ladies.
For those of you that want mom and dad to get back together, let it go! It didn't work 15 years ago and it won't work now.
It's called moving on, bigger and better things to come!
Democracy now!

Yes it would be to remind a little GNR otherwise why to name his band GNR? , if he wanted to do something very different and a different sound direction then he may create his own band to do it that, not using the name of GNR.

The fans have a right to say that they don't like the new stuff, that's fine. But please don't be whinning about it.
Did you guys forget that the UYI albums sound totally different from AFD?
Some bands evolve a little with each ablum, some change a lot and yet some other bands stay the same. If you don't like it that's fine but then why moan about it?
It reminds me of Pearl Jam "fans" who bitch that the band sucks on every album since Ten. Why? because PJ changes a lot from album to album.

Just as you have the right to express pleasure for the new sound, we have the right to "whine". I know Slash, Duff, and the rest of the old gang won't come back. I'm not stupid. But using the Guns name, with only one original member, with a shitty new sound that sounds nothing at all like GNR, never mind AFD or UYI, to sell records seems like a disrespect to the GNR legacy to me. Last I check, this is a Guns fansite. I like GNR. Not Chinese Democracy Guns. To me, they're two different things.

Peace, bro. But may I remind us that we don't have the slightest idea what will actually be on ChinDem? Apart from "Shackler's Revenge" of course, and there we don't know what it sounds like. So with regard to the actual contents of ChinDem we all will have to wait and see.
I for myself trust Axl that he is too much of a rocker to stroll too far away from hardrock on the new album. We should expect it to be diverse, but don't judge before it's actually out.

7/29/2008 | 11:43:15 AM by Raschke
Calling the new gnr material by Axl 'industrial' ain't right. Those who say that don't know much about industrial music.
It has some industrial influences, for sure, but no self-respecting industrial music fan is gonna put Better, IRS and Madagascar on his iPod. Get Real.
I'm gonna back up gnr4ever's comment that Axl alone can keep gnr going and give it the sound it needs. Imagine if the table had been turned and the band stayed together and kicked Axl out and got some unkown replacement, or worse, S.Bach! That would've killed the GNR sound faster than a bullet.
I'd love to see Izzy and Slash back (couldn't care less about the others frankly), but GNR can remain GNR as long as Axl's voice carries the tracks. Sold-out concert dates around the world last year seem to back this up too, even though the venues were maybe not as large as they once were. Still, enough people want Axl. He's got the voice. Any decent musician can be in the band.
song-writing, well that's another story

All is a big joke. Axl is done when he destroyed the band back in 1993,GNR is dead,"New GNR" what a ridiculus to be the only original member of GNR and to name your band GNR.
I'm tired to hearing ppl saying "Axl is GNR",oh yeah?? OH YEAH???? Is really Axl GNR? And then slash what is,izzy what is,duff what is,adler what is,all these guys isnt a big part of GNR history???But ok i know,Axl is GNR....

Oh yeah a bunch of drunken, drug taking pissheads ??? And then Axl what is? A psychomaniac idiot who destroyed the biggest hard rock band in the world and cant release a f@cking album in 15 years!!! Just shame for GNR name and history.
Axl signed the name GNR cause his shity band now with emogay members is a tribute GNR band.
7/29/2008 | 5:14:40 PM by Emogay
The caliber of talent in GNR now smokes the original band, the old band could not even approach replicating the musicianship in the new songs.
Axl is sure aware of how dear the AFD songs are, 10 of the 12 tracks would appear in a single live show vs. 3-4 non-cover UYI tracks (hell, Don't Cry was demoted to a guitar solo).
But what we get now is the best he can do, of course he wants to be as successful as possible, he's leading a corporate freight train with hundreds of people invested into him.
Paul Stanley reflected back on the songs he was writing in the late 80's and said they were the best he could do, even with "hit" writers involved. And if he had to write a song like he did in the mid 70's, he couldn't do it even with a gun to his head.
Thankfully I.R.S. and This I Love are 10x better than You Make Me Rock Hard.

I have to tell ye that I am one of the lucky ones I guess, I was around as a 14 year old kid who happened to be subjected to a great Rock N Roll band who were begining an upward ascent that would take them to the top of the world, and in some ways I was with them by clinging on to their coat tails as a fan.
I have been there from the start almost, and I consider myself lucky to be able to say that, I idolised those guys and what they were able to do musically for the world and more importantly for me.
I have read the last number of posts with some interest, and this argument obout "New Guns" versus "Old Guns" is thought provoking but ultimately a waste of time now. Guns N Roses is what it is now and thats it! history cant be changed and if you dont like it well then tough, because thats the reality.
Old or original Guns N Roses will always be my favorite because of what they created and the context of their music in relation to a very important period in my life, we are all open and very susceptable to influences when we are in our early teens, even if we dont always want or are able to admit it.
I was as bewildered as most fans were when GNR for all the myriad of reasons imploded and left us all hanging out to dry, and GNR sadly became a joke, to me and a whole lot of people around the world, I kinda followed any news whenever it became available, and was genuinely happy to hear the news of VR (never mind all the bullshit that went with it) and then I happened to stumble on to this site one day and all those memories from my youth came flooding back, and it was great to not only hear the new songs but also to have a forum in which to discuss the material.
This forum offers everyone with an interest to voice their opinion, and I find it funny (think bullshits) and informative most of the time, but what kills this place is when the same tired old arguments are used and reused and in some cases abused, we all are aware of the GnR story at this stage and there are three categories of people who post, the person that loves the new stuff, the person that hates the new stuff because its not the GNR sound and the person who is pretty much open to it all, as you may have guessed I happen to love the old stuff and am beginning to really appreciate the new material, and I can do that by listening obviously to the songs but by also getting some perspective from the people that post here.
So to conclude by all means have and express your views, but also try and keep an open mind and dont be too quick to condemn others and their views.
Herein endedth the lesson! haha.

Raschke: "I'd love to see Izzy and Slash back (couldn't care less about the others frankly), but GNR can remain GNR as long as Axl's voice carries the tracks."
I agree 100%
Emogay: "The caliber of talent in GNR now smokes the original band, the old band could not even approach replicating the musicianship in the new songs."
I love the new songs but I wouln't go THAT far. In my opinion some of the solos are lacking (I hope BBF can make them better) and the drums can't approach Matt Sorum or Steven Adler.

Why is Axl Rose eating Eminem's soul?
Here's the thing about modern teenagers: They like rap. It speaks to them. Rap music (sometimes referred to as "hip-hop" by sociologists) offers today's youth a sense of urgency and desperation not seen since the "heyday" of late-'70s punk-rock artists like the Clash and Boston. This phenomenon is best illustrated through the work of a popular Caucasian known as Eminem, a man who spent much of 2002 as the unsmiling cover boy for youth-oriented magazines such as Spin, The Face, and The New York Times Magazine. It would seem that Eminem is a new kind of cultural Minotaur: the irrepressible cad who flouts society's conventions by candidly critiquing pop culture and sporadically threatening to murder people. It all seems quite innovative.
Yet this is not as you may suspect, true believers. This has been done before. In fact, this has completely been done before, because Eminem is Axl Rose. And I don't mean Eminem is like Axl Rose in a metaphorical sense or in a philosophical sense or in an allegorical sense; Eminem is literally reliving Rose's career in bizarre, hyper-specific ways. My proof:
Both hail from the Midwest and express violent anger toward their mothers (Rose on Guns N' Roses' "Bad Obsession," Eminem on pretty much every track he's ever recorded).
Both reappropriated their given names for reasons that were simultaneously personal and aesthetic (Rose renamed himself after discovering the identity of his "real" father; Eminem titled his most visceral album after his legal name to make it more "real" to listeners).
Both have been critically reviled as homophobic, yet both seem vaguely obsessed and/or connected with gay culture (Rose once sent flowers to the Pet Shop Boys, who later sang the song "The Night I Fell in Love," about a Shady-like character). Both artists were also defended by Elton John, who performed with each at high-profile awards shows.
Both are fixated on burying women in the backyard (Rose in the GN'R song "Used to Love Her," Eminem in the video for "Cleanin' Out My Closet").
Both attacked seemingly innocuous enemies (Axl went after the likes of Vince Neil and Spin founder Bob Guccione Jr.; Em went after Moby and Chris Kirkpatrick).
Both sing about abusing "bitches" they were romantically involved with (Rose on "It's So Easy," Slim Shady on "Kim").
Both are diminutive white males who, after discovering weight training, suddenly wanted to appear shirtless in public.
So what do these "coincidences" tell us, beyond suggesting that Eminem soon will disappear into the Sedona desert for ten years before emerging with a band featuring some dude wearing a KFC bucket? Perhaps they tell us this: What always survives the evolution of culture, and what tends to be replicated most closely by subsequent generations, is inexplicable--a manifestation of fucked-up alienation. Logic would dictate that commercial success comes from creating a product that people can relate to. But cultural success--the ability to exist as an idea, years after your tangible work has lost its relevance--derives from embodying a persona that almost nobody can relate to. Somehow, the marriage of weirdness and bad judgment is its own kind of eternal reality.
Case in point: Justin Timberlake. When J.T. performed in that stupid detective's hat at last year's MTV Video Music Awards, everyone's reaction was the same: "Oh, how cute--he wants to be Michael Jackson." I can't believe that more people weren't aghast that someone actively wants to be Michael Jackson. At this point, Jackson is no different from Howard Hughes: His life's work has been completely dwarfed by his desire to lie in hyperbaric oxygen chambers and collect the bones of the Elephant Man (not to mention his being accused of child molestation and calling Sony racist for allowing him to sell only 58 million albums). No rational person views Jackson as anything except a freakish example of why profound celebrity is the worst thing that can happen to anyone. Yet people like Timberlake (and like Eminem) still aspire to that kind of public self-destruction, because that kind of losing is actually how you win. And that's because profound celebrity is always less disposable than art.

Raschke: "I'd love to see Izzy and Slash back (couldn't care less about the others frankly), but GNR can remain GNR as long as Axl's voice carries the tracks."
That's 100% wrong, cause GNR done back in 1993 when Axl destroyed the band. Now he calls his own tribute band GNR.What a shame. The GNR you talk about exists only in your dreams,in the reality its Axl and friends band.
GNR cant remaine GNR only with Axl's voice.....
by slane 92
"Guns N Roses is what it is now and thats it! history cant be changed and if you dont like it well then tough, because thats the reality."
And what is GNR nowdays??? Is Axl alone as the only original member and some other guys who never anyone knew before they joined Axl's band and they trying to play the old song good and they helped Axl to finish his 15 years long awaiting album/albums.
Maybe they gone when CD released and after some tours.Thats the reality.

Hey Judgement Day,
You should step off for a while my man, take a minute and look at the bigger picture, you have your opinion and you express it here, no hassle, but you must realise that there are people who are real passionate about Guns N Roses and especially the latest reincarnation, This is not a tribute band, it is Guns n Roses as it stands now, its something that you may not agree with but it happens to be a fact.
Dylan,
Axl and Eminem huh, wow that was interesting stuff, lots of paralels there, where did you come up with this? I only hope that when eminem does go to the sedona desert if hes not already there! I really hope that he stays there for a lot longer than 10 years!! lol

Slane 92,
Dude, don't try to talk sense into goog ol' Judgment Day...
You said that you were 14 when AFD came out, I was 11 so maybe that has a lot to do with our attitudes and the attitudes of guys like Judgment Day.
I'm betting he's somewhere between 11 and 14 right now. And believe me, in our thirties we're OLD geezers to these kids, who as any respectable GNR-lovin' teenager they are rebelious so try as we might they'll keep on bitching, moaning and cursing out whoever doesn't agree with them.
Damn, I should have studied psychology, it seems like fun in places like this.

"This is not a tribute band, it is Guns n Roses as it stands now, its something that you may not agree with but it happens to be a fact."
Ok now you said the biggest bullshit i ever heard, i'll ask you something, if robert plant take his own band now and rename it Led Zeppelin or New Led Zeppelin, what you think, its a good idea for you i suppose? No its a very bad idea and wrong for the history of this band to do plant this. And compare this i said with the "New GNR" situation onw and think. What the hell has to do the GNR name with this line up now?
"New GNR" is absolutely nothinf to do with real GNR ,its another band.Really why dont they change the site to "www.newgnrdaily.com"?
When my friend all the original members gone and exists only one original member can you tell plz what is this? Is it or not a tribute band? Of course it is.
If someday metallica broke up for example and lars ulrich is the only original member you'll call it this band metallica? I dont think so....
So simple....but so difficult to understand some ppl......
7/29/2008 | 8:39:38 PM by gnr4ever
Okay! You win dude. I never looked at it like that before. I can't believe it took me that long to see it, but after it was broken down so well by Judgement Day I get it.
So I guess since the old band is never gonna re-group all that's left is bitch?
I'd rather enjoy and love the NEW GUNS N ROSES... the last time I checked I've been rockin out to Better,TWAT,I.R.S, Madagascar, Rhiad, CITR, CD, This I love, If the World....for the past few years.
The new band can fuckin rock, I love it, it's a good Vibe.
Why hate on something they've worked hard on for many years.
If you don't like it, don't listen.
Anyhow, I don't know why I waste my time speaking to someone that I'm sure there own mother doesn't even talk to. You know, cause you didn't do the dishes like you were told.
I'm guessing you aren't from an English speaking country, if so you're a FUCKIN IDIOT.
Judgement Day you're so gay I think we should call you Gilby Clarke, you've heard of him right? You know the guy that replaced Izzy. How about Matt Sorum that replaced Adler? or Tracii.....do you get it the band has always changed except one key part...AXL FUCKIN ROSE.............Go listen to Hollywood Rose and tell me Axl didn't already have his invision of Guns n Roses.,
7/29/2008 | 8:45:59 PM by gnr4ever
Lars isn't the voice you dumb fuck, if James wanted to sure! So then is Jason allowed to leave without having re-name the group?
So was it Van Halen ever??
How about Jane's addiction touring, I guess you must have lost your shit.
How about Velvet Revolver? There gonna replace Scott without changing the name.
7/29/2008 | 8:54:07 PM by Carlos
You know what's funny? Now that you mention Tracii Guns...
The GnR lineup that recorded AFD was a "tribute band" by Judgment Day's deffinition. That lineup we all know and love featured only two original members, Axl and Izzy. And we all know that by the time they were touring UYI Izzy was gone so that left only Axl as the original GNR member.
From GnRSource.com [http://www.gnrsource.com/faq/line-ups.htm]:
Guns N' Roses
March 1985:
W. Axl Rose - Vocals
Tracii Guns - Guitars
Izzy Stradlin - Guitars / Bass
Ole Beich - Bass
Rob Gardner - Drums
:)
7/29/2008 | 9:09:08 PM by Judgement day

No gay its not me but is fortus who is also a disgustιng EMO.
VR isnt gonna change their name cause 1 member left not 4 original members.....
"NEW GUNS N ROSES", Lauging Out Loud....
New Led Zeppelin,New Rainbow,New Black Sabbath,New Ramones,New Gorgorth etc etc etc....

Hey Judgment Day, I share some of your points of view. I agree with some things but not with others.
The thing is to me GNR fans have pretty different opinions about the band.
Some hate the old incarnation, some hate the new incarnation and some love them both.
Anyway, I'm not too fond of the real incarnation, I think (and I don't care about the musical direction if it's industrial, hard rock or pop) it lacks the core style of what we knew GNR used to play and I still think the drums are pretty week if we compare Brain or Ferrer with Adler or Sorum.
I agree when some people say that we can not argue about differences onto their sound (AFD was very, very different form GNR lies and from UYI I and II), but Axl has changed one of the trademarks of the Guns N' Roses sound too drastically, which are the guitars, out goes the bluesy-hendrix-vaugh-page-perry and in comes the vai-satriani-malmsteen virtuose guitars). I personally don't like that, but we can't do nothing about that. That's a fact.
Chinese Democracy will be a great album, no question about that, but remember, we'll always have complaints, some will love it, some will hate it, some will complain about the tracklist, because I doubt all the leaks will be on the final album.
Guns N' Roses is a band, not a solo project so, it takes more than one people, not only Axl to stand for its name.
I'll just wait and see what happens when CHI-DEM is released, untill that I have for old albuns, a bunch of never released songs, and a couple of old leaks to enjoy or cry for!
And to me opinion is like an asshole, dirty or not everyone has yours.
We should be more respectful and more open to everyone's opinion. We could learn a lot from that!
Gonna get bashed, but who cares anyway!
Long live the GNR fans, the new, the old, whatever!
Peace!

Hey Judgement Day,
No sweat my man, Im gonna agree to disagree with you, it is obvious that this is not the best forum for us to try and sort out a point of disagreement, maybe its a language thing who knows.
Just a quick question for you though, why do you post here? it seems the majority of your posts are negative, and come down hard on the new guys and the new material, do you like any of the new stuff? if the answer is yes why not comment on that.
7/29/2008 | 11:44:52 PM by Judgement Day
slane 92
You why do you post here? Probably cause you like new gnr and what they doing right?I dont like them,is this means that i cant or it should not post here? Or must to say only the positives things here for the band and not the negatives? Yeah i like some of new stuff but
i'm not doing like a crazy and saying all the time how great is Axl,how great is the band, how great this, how great that etc etc.
Ok some songs are good but not something special, and nothing remind GNR all this new stuff, this is bad for me and i dont like it.
Βig Pat i dont try to do nobody agree with me,i just dont care who agrees or not, different opinions thats all.And if you want to delete any of posts cause you believe is offensive you are free to do it.

Judgment day, you're old news buddy. Wasn't that like August 29th 1997? Haha. Man that's old. Guess Arnie wasn't that big a visionary.
But I think I get where you're coming from. The thing is, everything changes. And what's in the past stays in the past. Just like the old GnR era is gone. Kinda ironic, since you named yourself after something so horribly dated. But that doesn't mean we can't sit back and enjoy T2 now does it? Heck it's one of my favorite movies. Same goes for the classic GnR line-up. The important thing is, we got it's legacy.
Just hope Axl doesn't screw up Chi Dem like they screwed up T3. The only real John Connor is Edward Furlong!

When you plagiarize an article out of Spin Magazine (I'm thinking about 3 to 4 years ago) try not to cut and paste the whole thing. A couple blurbs here and there would'nt be so obvious. Or atleast give credit to the author and not make it as if you wrote this. Fuck, I just had some bad flashbacks from my old High School days.

No intent on taking credit for it. Just cut and pasted an article for people to read, that's it. It goes without saying that anyone can easily find the origin of the article. Please, don't presume to know my intentions. Thanks.

Gotta say, the hype machine doesn't keep the ball rolling too much...
Shakler's Revenge gets announced, HUGE GNR vibe in the air again, rumor for possible quadruple albums, and then instead of a news blitz to get the ball rolling further, we get nothing...
it's like GNR news gets released like other bands release albums. Instead of getting a new single, video, CD or DVD, we get news, or an announcement.
Aside from us dedicated fanatics HERE, does anyone else in the world care about GNR news like we do? Is a slow viral buzz being built up for years to an apathetic nation?
I love the Eminem-to-Axl analogy, but ultimately will the next Eminem CD be received with a greater welcome than ChiDem?

Hi "Me" and "Big Pat" and everyone else I know on here.
It could be the out of school thing, or it could also be that people are coming here hoping to get a leak of the new song on Rock Band, but if that's the case, they should go elsewhere.

Where is all the
buzz about Chinese Democracy coming out for the VMA's?
Oh yeah, that's right....IT'S NEVER COMING OUT!!!
7/30/2008 | 11:50:02 PM by DTJ
I don't mean to project any conspiracy theories like 2112 however I'm convinced that gnr have been indirectly leaking the songs.
Chinese isn't going to come out for the vma's..There's a 1% chance axl might play at the vma's and if this album is slated for 2008 then he probably will..However why would any of us expect to be actually notified about this..I'm sure it would be a surprise and secretive like every thing regarding this band..But their isn't any way for the album to be out by the vma's since we haven't heard anything yet..
Royston Langdon...Such a strange choice
7/31/2008 | 1:25:28 AM by GnRLIARS
i agree with you DTJ, I have always felt that the GnR camp had a hand in the leaks. Never before has this type of nonsence happened.

No one is even going to be around let alone care when this record drops. What master plan can possibly be in the works that takes this long to design, negotiate and execute?
7/31/2008 | 8:37:19 PM by Dylan
Death Magnetic is an anagram for ‘Can it, Megadeth’.
7/31/2008 | 9:05:46 PM by Double Talkin Jive
Gomer I'm probably wrong but I'm thinkin guns indirectly released the leaks to hold the fans over for a while because the album isn't gonna come out as soon as we hope..
I could be entirely wrong but history is on my side..The only thing at this point that even makes me consider an album might be out in Late October, November, December is Shacklers Revenge on Rock Band..Personally I think if the album is released this year it would be released right before christmas..I wouldn't guessed September 21 or so when the illusion albums we're released however we're just waaayyy to close to those dates for that to even be a possibility.
7/31/2008 | 10:05:35 PM by gnr4ever
I think because of the years of publicity good or bad, this album doesn't need any pre-knowledge of when it's gonna come. When it hits the shelves and radio and video game etc..... the word will spread like a motherfucker ....Dr.Pepper pays the americans their pop and we all listen happily ever after. THE END
Oh and for the next 4 years, every six months another album drops.
Then Axl lets Duff and Slash back in and Izzy allows Guns to have him. Axl kicks nobody out, they just remain switching solos...and take over the world.
Good weed, need coffee...want democracy!!
7/31/2008 | 10:38:58 PM by If the world
Hey is Axl gonna make any video clip for some songs? It would be good to see a video clip for Better or This i love or other song.
But what am i asking, first of all we dont have yet the album so to create Axl video for any song is vey far for now.

".. I'm probably wrong but I'm thinkin guns indirectly released the leaks to hold the fans over for a while because the album isn't gonna come out as soon as we hope..."
Does seem suspicious that quite a number of tracks rumored to be on the album have been leaked, yet the one that has most recently been announced, officially it should be noted, Shackler's Revenge, hasn't been leaked at all..... and you'd think that appearing on a game means that a fair number of people have access to it, not just the record company execs.
Also, I'm curious, about those recent new leaks, the song Prostitute? / This I Love? / Leave Me Alone? - where are these titles coming from? Is anybody actually sure of the song's correct title? Awesome song, one of my fav.'s on the yet-to-exist album.

Really? Santa Claus told me Chinese Democracys' tracklisting is the re-recorded Appetite For Destruction.
8/1/2008 | 8:25:11 PM by Brandon
Hey Kent,
That Royston Langdon news is horrible! I was hoping that VR would come up with a singer who had balls, but apparently not. If it came down to it, Duff would be a better singer than Royston. Hell, almost anyone would be better than a singer from Space Hog. What the hell? Are they trying to commit career suicide?
8/1/2008 | 8:56:51 PM by slane 92
Checked Royston and spacehog out on You Tube, and all I can say is ........................
................
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Kinda like Weiland I think.
8/1/2008 | 9:06:53 PM by Kent
Hey Brandon!
As much as I don't care about V.R, I do find that news very shocking. SpaceHog was a one-hit wonder in 1994. I'm thinking 1 album (maybe 2?).
Career suicide is right. These guys continue to make fools out of themselves. A mockery of their old selves if you will. How is the lead singer of SpaceHog going to bring back the roots of rock n roll like Slash has always wanted to do? These guys are fucked, I can think of 100 guys that are better than that clowns cunt!
8/1/2008 | 9:28:32 PM by Dylan
Perhaps there is a chemistry they feel is working? At then end of the day the music will decide whether this union works or not.
8/1/2008 | 9:43:14 PM by Dylan
Spacehog released 3 records from 1995 - 2001. Royston appears to be the cheif song writer by far. I think maybe that was a point of interest to Slash and Duff. He writes his stuff. Hopefully they write well together.
8/1/2008 | 11:52:42 PM by Bear
Royston makes sense, he's got the Weiland look and cool euro charm. And being Steven Tyler's son-in-law don't hurt either. He should be a decent songwriter for the band, perhaps more musically than lyrically compared to STP. STP had great lyrics, but Weiland's solo album was garbage.
Should make for a cool new project if they can get Royston's public profile bigger (or suffer a John Corabi effect), and VR will get to play some Spacehog hits in the live shows too.
In The Meantime, let's have some ChiDem already.

"Shackler's revenge = CheckMate"
How you know if is Checkmate? If is this then its a kick ass song.
8/2/2008 | 9:12:48 PM by Jeff
I don't get how a song can be kick ass from only a 20 second clip. I admit Checkmate sounds like it has the potential to be an excellent song but for all we know the rest of the song could suck. As for it being Shackler's Revenge - possible, but most likely Bullshits.
8/2/2008 | 9:31:57 PM by GOGO
If a 20 second clip is kick ass then the song probalby will be a kick ass song. What dont you understand? And why the rest of the song could suck?

First off I don't pretend to know whether shackler's =checkmate but I would not be surprised. I have yet to hear one person say they didn't think the song kicked ass..Yes 20 seconds but we all can tell this is the best song soo far..
That would be the perfect song for rock band..No idea of course but sure is nice to speculate..Is Chinese Democracy out yet
8/3/2008 | 7:55:20 AM by Jeff
That's your opinion... fine... but I've never been able to honestly judge a song by a 20 second clip. I agree that it sounds like it has the potential be good, so I'd say it could be.. not that it's 'the best song so far'. That's like saying that a football game is the greatest game ever half way through the first quarter. I love the new stuff for the most part but I just don't get this obsession with the 20 second clip that like I said sounds good, but is too short and incomplete for me to make statements like that.

"Get ready for "Shackler's Revenge." The track from the upcoming Guns N' Roses album Chinese Democracy will appear on the video game Rock Band 2, slated for release for the Xbox 360 platform in September."
[July 14, 2008 gunsnroses.com]
Shacklers Revenge will be the first realised song from Chinese Democracy. Fans will hear it on XBOX 360 music video game. It's called Rock band 2. Ok...
... so September 2008 it's a date when first single from long-awaited album will see a daylight. Simple as hell. All album possibly on February 2009. GNR has their official website so they should use it in a future when next songs from CD will come out.
P.S. 20 seconds is nothing if you want to comment a track. Just wait for September.
8/3/2008 | 5:39:19 PM by Taz

8/3/2008 | 9:34:54 PM by DTJ
Why do I have this strange suspicion that axl rose didn't even really think about how to release this album till recording ended.
This album has been done for atleast a year or so..And to consider releasing it in 2009 is just beyond me..I understand they want to release the cd the right way, however couldn't they have been sceming about marketing and all that before the album was finished so it wouldn't take 2 years to find a good strategy for the albums release..
ps. If shackler's revenge does come out on rock band then the album should be out in 2008..Why would you release a single 4-5 months before the album is out..Way to early

Hey Slane you are in tip top form today!!
Hecman you need to lighten up a wee tad there old boy , I'm sure that CHIDEM does exist , haven't listened to any leaks period but that's my choice !! i'm prepared to wait for the real thing for as long as it takes !! in the meantime i'm enjoying the daily banter that helps to pass the time .

nothing

I'm just really frustrated with Axl. After 9 years there can be no more excuses. And now, nothing but complete slience from his camp. His M.O. (motus Operendi) is still the same. I love the leaks that are out, its pure genius. Of course Chinese Democracy exists but it will never be released until after Axl's death.

Hi Gomer Im feelin your pain bro, tell you what, lets put a contract out on Axl, you know make him sleep with fishes haha, I will talk to somebody who will talk to somebody etc etc.... and when its taken care of (ahem nudge nudge wink wink) we will have Chinese Democracy! so simple and so beautiful.

"Not the greatest of news but i did find this, thought i would share.
We’ve learned from a reliable source that the deal with Geffen/Universal is going ahead in best way, as well as some matters are still to be discussed. At present time we’re not able to confirm whether it will hit stores within this year or not; it was told that at the timing the final accordance is gonna be found, an official announcement will be done two month before the release.
Robin up to now still in GN’R, as he never expressed publicly to leave.
VMA participation: GN'R have not been invited to the event jet. If it's gonna happen in a short time, the band will take a decision whether to appear or not.
Forthcoming albums after CD: a realease every two years will be scheduled. There has never been a negotiation for four albums at the same time.

Lock this thread, there's nothing more to say about the article with 4 albums etc or do another new thread with some news.

@ gnr_22
Thanks for this information. Gonna have an eye on this Italian site in future.
Also: "Shackler's Revenge is a bonus track only for the rockband2 game"
Not on the CD to come then.

"Also: "Shackler's Revenge is a bonus track only for the rockband2 game" "
WTF??? But they said,
"The track from the upcoming Guns N' Roses album Chinese Democracy...."
Get ready for "Shackler's Revenge." The track from the upcoming Guns N' Roses album Chinese Democracy will appear on the video game Rock Band 2, slated for release for the Xbox 360 platform in September.

2009..seriously
The game is completely absurd at this point..And bullshit the vma's haven't contacted gnr yet..They contact axl every year. I'm so sick of Axl's fan treatment..No one can deny its low..Obviously mtv has an idea about chinese dropping soon, so don't you think they have contacted gnr about the possibility of appearing.
Axl may deliver incredible shows and music but offers very little in between..Just let us know whats up..Why are you the only person unable to do anything-anything-anything on time..Couldn't gnr and management been negotiating and deciding on marketing and releasing the album months before the album was finished..If this album doesn't at least have 16-18 songs I ain't buying it. Axl release all these songs and get the old troupe together for god sakes
8/5/2008 | 1:44:33 AM by Gers
Wtf? Shackler's Revenge has nothing to do with the release of CD? It will be on the album or its only for rockband2 game?
"“We still want to believe in Axl Rose and his record and we greatly wish that ’Chinese Democracy’ would see the light of day before February 2008. If that will be the case we will make our best effort to re-open the site otherwise our domains will be lost and that will be the end of it.”"
Do you remember gnronline.it??? All the GNR site/forums must to shutdown for protest! ! !

Bullshits! ! ! No respect for the fans...shame...

Well, that's contradictory information about Shackler's Revenge.
Question: then, neither a single nor on CD tracklist?
Answer: Absolutely not
Hm. I don't know who this guy "deadsinceiwasborn" is and how reliable his statements are. I know who runs gunsnroses.com though. And yes, there it says explicitely "track from the upcoming Guns N' Roses album Chinese Democracy ". If in doubt, trust the original source, I'd say.
On the other hand this original source once just as explicitely stated CHIDEM would be released on March 6, 2007. Which did not happen and was not followed by any explanation or new information.
So, I really don't know what to make of it. "Guess, we'll have to wait and see."
8/5/2008 | 8:21:03 AM by JF
I understand what you mean, there was a sort of error in that statement. In July there was a supposition whether to include Shackler's Revenge on CD or not.
Well, nice to know. Why don't they correct that on gunsnroses.com if the statement is wrong in this point now? Their PR really sucks.
But I am not going to waste my nerves on this. Time will tell.

Just can't get over those strange "deadsinceiwasborn" statements on gnronline.it.
If you read this:
I was asked to do this, so without waisting any time I’m up to clarify the situation about CD’s release. I can confirm without any doubts that the deal with Geffen/Universal is going ahead in best way, as well as some matters are still to be discussed. At present time I’m not able to confirm whether it will hit stores within this year or not; everyone involved is working out at best to make it happen. At the timing the final accordance will suite on common and mutual interests, an official announcement will be done two month before the release.
- beware, all speculation!!! - this is very much Axl Rose style. From the intro "I was asked to do this, so without waisting any time ..." to the excessively stilted syntax and his implied involvement in the negotiations and competence to provide confirmations - I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is Mr. Guns N' Roses himself informing the fans. Why not via official statement, I don't know. But I am pretty sure, I am not wrong here.

He registered as a member on July, 21 this year and has posted since then 111 posts in what is to me very convincing Axl style. Go and look yourself.

Please stop this crap regarding the GNR fan site in Italy. No more links to it.
Trust me, you are grasping at straws.

BP = Big Pat?
Ok, so if you really think it is nonsense, then please delete my last three posts and this one. It probably doesn't help anybody if they remain online, whether I am right or wrong with my speculations.
